Contests: Youth for change

Thanks to my blog reader for sharing this.

THE United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development Global Youth Forum (UN GAID GYF) recognises youth and ICT as agents of change.

It aims to unite agents of change in a discussion on technology's role in advancing people's lives. It harnesses the creativity that youth have in exploring ICT for their own benefit and the benefit of their peers and communities in advancement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

The goals are:

• Eradicate poverty and hunger

• Achieve universal primary education
• Promote gender equality and empower women

• Reduce child mortality

• Improve maternal health

• Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

• Ensure environmental sustainability

• Develop a global partnership for development

Astro is a sponsor of the Malaysian chapter of UN GAID GYF. It is holding a competition for Malaysian youth aged between 18 and 25 years old (individual or two members per team) to select one or incorporate all of the eight UN Millennium Development Goals in a written document, a three to five-minute video or a prototype, as a representation demonstrating their strategies, plans and solutions in addressing and achieving these goals.

Participants of selected entries will be awarded all-expense paid trips to showcase their work at the 2008 UN GAID Global Youth Forum in Armenia.

Entries (maximum size 10MB) must be submitted together with the registration form (available for download at www.astro.com.my/themalaysianchapter/contest.asp) via post to the following address:
