Arrest of Tan Hoon Cheng from Sin Chew Jit Poh

I'm quite disturbed by the recent arrests under ISA, especially towards Tan Hoon Cheng, Sin Chew Jit Poh's reporter. Below are some of the comments from MCA and Gerakan, who are Barisan National Component Parties.

Quoting Official MCA Statement via SMS sent to all MCA members early this morning,

I would translate it as "MCA President Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting said, MCA would try its best to help the reporter from Sin Chew Jit Poh, who is detailed under Internal Security Act (ISA). MCA disagrees with police's action to use Internal Security Act (ISA) against journalists, and urge the police to release the reporter. Ong Ka Ting urge the people to stay calm. MCA Leadership would be discussing with Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister on how to fairly solve the current situation."

Quoting Malaysiakini ,
Gerakan secretary-general Chia Kwang Chye, who was among those who visited the state police headquarters, slammed Tan's arrest and called on the police to complete their investigation as soon as possible so that she could be released.

Quoting Malaysiakini also,
MCA Youth legal bureau Gan Ping Sieu also condemned the use of ISA against Tan.

"The journalist concerned should be called for questioning and not be arrested," he said.

He criticised the government for its double standards, adding that the arrest was a setback for democracy.

"Prime Minister Abdullah has shown his incompetence in handling the ‘squatters' issue in the past two weeks and allow the tensed situation to escalate.

"He has lost the confidence of the people. For the sake of national interest, he should step down," added Gan.

He added that the MCA Youth legal bureau was prepared to set up a team of lawyers to provide legal assistance to Tan.

Quoting Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek ,
我严厉谴责警方未经查实就以内安法扣留的这名记者。这根本是矫枉过正、反应过敏。

To everyone, please remain calm.

On the other hand, my monk said, also many things happened when he stayed there because committees always disturbing, I am very sadly about that matter, why committees are very poor and crooks.
