Human Rights Day Debate 2008

TEAM MALAYSIA VS TEAM WORLD in a Human Rights Day Debate 2008, in
conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights.

The United Nations in Malaysia and the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia
invites you to attend a world class showcase of debating skills, held in
conjunction with the CIMB Group World Universities Peace Invitational
Debates (CIMB-WUPID).

DATE: TUESDAY, 16 DECEMBER 2008
TIME: 7.00PM - 10.00PM (RECEPTION AND DEBATE)
VENUE: IMPIANA KLCC HOTEL, 13, JALAN PINANG, KUALA LUMPUR

Using the Asian Parliamentary style of debating, Team Malaysia will debate
Team World on how far the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has set the
standard for a world that is equal and fair.

Participating will be world debaters from prestigious universities such as
Harvard and Cambridge, and top debaters from Malaysia, showcasing highly
skilled methods of argument in this battle of word and wit.

The 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights provides
an opportunity for us to take stock on where we have arrived in our
aspirations for a peaceful co-existence of dignity and prosperity. A debate
on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights promises a rich and vibrant
discussion on its place in today's world in light of contemporary world
developments.

Please do feel free to circulate this to the people you think would
appreciate attending this event.
