Global Anti Smoking Contest

Thanks to my blog reader for submitting this.

This is quoted to NST

GENEVA: In conjunction with World No Tobacco Day, which was celebrated yesterday, the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) is promoting a global competition for a universally recognisable symbol to identify places where children are free from environmental tobacco smoke.

The symbol should be a graphic image without words that communicates across cultures.

The UICC competition is open to children and adults, creative agencies, art schools and UICC member organisations.

The deadline for entries is June 30.

The winner will attend the World Cancer Congress in Geneva from Aug 27 to 31 to present the symbol and receive a US$5,000 (RM16,200) cash prize.

The competition for the smoke-free symbol is part of the "I love my smoke-free childhood" launched on World Cancer Day on Feb 4.

It is the first full-year theme in a five-year global cancer prevention programme focusing on children and young people.

Would encourage any of my blog readers to share with me any event that you come across. As long as the event/activity/initiative is education/charity/youth oriented and is not-for-profit, I would be more than happy to post it to share!
