Study award

THE British Schools Group has announced the establishment of The British High Commissioner's Scholarship.

The RM600,000 annual scholarship provides an opportunity to Malaysian children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who show a high potential for academic excellence.

The scholarship includes all fees, materials, uniforms and lunches, and covers education from primary Year 5 through to the end of secondary school.

Communication skills

KOLEJ Tunku Abdul Rahman (KTAR) will be organising a workshop titled 'Effective Communication and The Educator' designed for lecturers, teachers or anyone looking to enhance delivery of teaching, training and communication skills.

The workshop will be held from at the KTAR Learning Centre, Ground Floor, Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. on July 1 and 2.

Health screening

UCSI University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, jointly with the Faculty of Medical Sciences will be organising the 8th Public Health Campaign 2009 themed 'Healthy Living, Live Without Diabetes' .It will be held at the Sunway Pyramid, LG2 Pyramid Concourse, Subang Jaya from 11am to 10 pm on July 3 to 5. The campaign aims to promote the importance of health, educate the public on diabetes and prevention, and provide health screening services such as tests for blood pressure, blood glucose, blood cholesterol and body fat.

Breathing science

THERE will be a free evening talk titled 'The Science of Breath Healing' by Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman (KTAR) on how to use breathing techniques to improve one's health.

The talk covers nostril cleaning techniques, the art of inhalation, retention and exhalation.

Workshop for students

A workshop to prepare students to the top universities in the United States (US) will be held at Taylor's University College. The Workshop will be facilitated by interviewers, alumni and students of Ivy League varsities. The workshop will be held on Aug 1, 2 and 15 at its premises. For details go to here .


International meet

UNIVERSITI Malaya is organising the International Conference on Cross-Cultural Communication to gather researchers, academics and practitioners to analyse issues pertaining to cross-cultural communication in the region and the world.

Authors from various disciplines are encouraged to submit abstracts within the given themes. The conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 19 to 20.

Literary conference

UNIVERSITI Sains Malaysia's (USM) School of Languages, Literacies and Translation is organising the Sixth International Literacy Conference 2009 (LITCON 2009).

LITCON 2009 is organised in collaboration with the university's International Literacy Research Unit, National Higher Education Research Institute (under the Higher Education Ministry) and the Penang education department.

The conference, with the theme 'Literacy: Forging Pathways to Unity' will be held from Oct 7 to 9 in Penang.
