The reality that we, Malaysians, are competing in the global marketplace either as individuals seeking career opportunities and advancement or as part of larger organizations seeking market and profit share can no longer be denied. Our companies are only as good as the people who lead them. Our workers want to be inspired and to be led by leaders who they admire, respect and want to emulate. Is there a 'formula' by which such leaders can be nurtured, trained or produced? Are there any leadership 'models' from which we can learn from in the Malaysian context? How did some of these Malaysian leaders, past, present and future, actually became leaders? To answer these questions, and more, UCSI-PLF (UCSI University together with the Perdana Leadership Foundation) have put together an interesting panel under a jointly organized public forum entitled "Nurturing the Minds of Future Leaders" as part of the larger theme of "Malaysians in a Globalized World". This is also the essay title of the PLF's 2010 essay writing competition. We anticipate this forum to be as interesting (if not more so) as the 10th Malaysian Plan forum (featuring Khairy Jamaluddin, Tony Pua and Wan Saiful Wan Jan) organized by the Faculty of Economics and Policy Science (FEPS), UCSI, in the month of June, 2010.  The panelists include Wan Firdaus Wan Mohd Fuad, former UKEC Chairman and currently a director at IDEAS, a libertarian think tank based in Kuala Lumpur, Zarina Nalla is the co-founder of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies and Zarina Abu Bakar is the general manager of the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
