Project E.P.I.C

Do check out this project of UKEC.

----

Project E.P.I.C. is about 'building homes, not just houses'. The plight of the Orang Asli is not one for more money or more possessions but truly to be able to have a nurturing and comfortable environment where they can strive to be better. This is a simple plea but is made difficult by many circumstances that surround them such as the lack of proper amenities, or even food on the table. These are things that many of us take for granted. However, we do not realise that because we don't have to worry about such things that we can build a better future for ourselves and our children.

Phase 1 of the project will be on the 4th and 5th of September where we aim to:

1.      Replace zinc roofs and repair broken doors

2.      Clean up the village area

3.      Rebuild 1 house that is on the verge of collapsing

4.      Extend the house of Bapa Oto (one of the village leader) where it is used as a village hall

5.      Teach the children how to play with educational toys (which have been sponsored)

We are looking for volunteers: This will be a wonderful opportunity to give what we can, and that would be our time and youthful strength. In return, we will be guaranteed a fun, interesting and fulfilling experience, and hopefully take back some building and fixing skills which we would be able to reapply in future projects.

For PHASE 1, we are calling for volunteers to help out in the following different ways:

-Construction and repairs of houses

-Teaching and playing with kids

-Cleaning up the village

If you have spare/idle household equipment or clothes that you'd like to contribute but can't make it for the trip to Kg. Hulu Tamu, please send us an e-mail at contact@dosomethingepic.net to arrange for your contribution, and we'd be deeply thankful for generosity.

So come on, guys! We don't need to wait to attend the event just to contribute to the Orang Asli! We're already doing it now, just by reading this and acting upon it!
