Patents filed by Institutions in Malaysia

Just came across this article in The Edge today. It is an article by P. Kandiah, who is an intellectual property expert with 20 years of experience in the field at KASS International Sdn. Bhd.

He highlighted on the Top 20 Malaysian patent filers, and I have seen a notable increase in patent filings among quite a number of institutions in Malaysia.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia - 251 patents in 2009 (up from 132 patents in 2008)

Seems that in general, most of them increase their patents filing, except for Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, MARDI and Telekom Malaysia Berhad. For Multimedia Glory Sdn Bhd, it is equal with last year.
